410 Rabbit Gun

Postby filthy_phil on Tue Jan 06, 2009 10:32 pm

I am looking into a cheap little 410 for bunny bashing. However, I have seen 2 I like. One with 2 1/2" chambers and one with 3" chambers. The gunsmith is confident I can use the smaller of the chamber sizes to cleanly kill the bunnys. Even on paper the cartridges run at the same speeds, but one has more weight.

Opinions?

Hi Filthy.
Both will do the job, providing you stick to sensible ranges.
I would be looking more at the cost of the shells, and certainly the availability of each. Also, are you required to shoot fibre wad shells where you shoot ? If so, availability may be your biggest problem.
I'm interested to hear why you may opt for a 410. when a larger gauge gun with a light load could be more practical.. Could it be weight perhaps?
